It's been a while...

I’m not going to try to catch up since our last post. Just going to start in on our life now. And hopefully will be diligent to post often. Enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day!

Here I am at 38.5 weeks on my first Mother's Day. It was such a great day, even without our little guy here yet. Michael made me breakfast in bed and then gave me a necklace that has two pendants, one with the baby's name and another with a green stone for the month of May. After church, Michael also cooked lunch for me and his mom. He definitely went all out to make today special. I am so thankful for the blessing of such a loving husband!

Michael's work threw a shower for Baby Hamline, Naomi and Michael. Lots of good food which everyone prepared.

There was a Cowboy theme for the shower.

Michael's friends at work were very kind and generous and Baby Hamline did well at this first shower thrown in his honor.

All right!  Thanks Aunt Connie and Uncle Terry for making sure this little boy will be a Royals fan from day one!  These shoes are too cute!

Can't wait to dress him up in these outfits!  Hopefully the Royals will be a lot better in his lifetime than they have been for his dad.

One of the work shower gifts, a round soft baseball blanket!  Can't wait to dress him in his Royals outfits, wrap him up in his blanket, and sit with him on the couch to catch a Saturday afternoon baseball game!

32 Weeks

 

Nursery

This weekend we finally put the finishing touches on painting the baby's room. Then we were able to move in the furniture. Michael put the crib together all by himself! Considering his lack of handy-man skills, he was very successful and had no problems. It's exciting but a little bit scary to have a crib up and ready for the baby to come. 8 weeks to go...

Michael's Musings

Well, it has been a longtime since we updated the blog about Baby Hamline, and I (Michael) haven’t written anything on it so far.  So here is my first attempt.  First off with Naomi at 32 weeks, I have had the privilege and great delight to see and feel our little son squirm and kick within her womb.  It has been a thrill and feels me with wonder and amazement every time I see him move; it also brings great joy to know that God has continued to preserve his life and is developing him for life outside the womb.  Naomi and I both agree that when we go to the doctor, we never get tired of hearing his little heart beat on the Doppler.  It makes me excited to see him, to see what he looks like and to experience his personality.  Regardless of what he’s like I have marveled at God’s creative power in forming this little boy and knitting him together.

A second event that has opened my eyes to seeing how our heavenly Father has taken care of every detail with great wisdom was shown to me at a breastfeeding class Naomi and I attended at Baptist hospital.  Don’t worry; I’m not going into great detail!  I have to admit that I was curious what they were going to say to the dads-to-be, but was surprised by how often they addressed us to let us know how we could be a big help to mom and baby by serving mom as much as possible before and after the baby has been fed.  But what has been imprinted on my mind even more is how God perfectly designed a mother’s body to supply the food he needs to grow and thrive and how for the most part he learns where his nourishment comes from and pursues this life-giving milk. 

In turn, I was led to think about Peter’s words in 1 Peter 2:2-3 where he says, “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation-if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.”  This, my family and friends, has been a verse that I have been praying for myself, my wife, my new son and for many of you that it might be reality in all our lives.  I pray that you all would crave or long for this milk, which I take to be God’s Word, so that by it you may grow into salvation!  God provides all the food we need in His Word so don’t crave what the world has to offer and instead taste God’s great goodness and desire to taste even more of his goodness to those who trust Him.
